Abstract

The work was conducted at the Centre for Mountain Development, located in the municipality of El Salvador, Guantanamo province, in the period from December to January 2013, with the aim of identifying insect pests of greatest impact on agricultural crops and forestry production in different ways in the town of Monte Ruz Limonar and finding alternatives for controlling them. Inventories were conducted on three farms belonging to the CCS producers strengthened "Luis A. Carbo", an estate belonging to the CCS strengthened "Orlando Pantoja" and Bombí Comprehensive Military Farm. The results showed that in the areas surveyed were found represented a total of two families with three genera and three species with an overall prevalence of infestation by leaf-cutter ants infestation followed by fire ants.
