This study determined the prevalence of the hemoparasite Anaplasma marginalis by breed and sex in cattle from the La Troncal canton (Cañar province). Blood samples from the coccygeal vein of crossbred Taurus and Zebu cattle were analyzed using Giemsa staining. Data were processed using ANOVA and Tukey's test (p<0.05). The results showed a higher infestation rate in Zebu crosses (69%) than in Taurus crosses (31%). By sex, females showed a higher prevalence (57%) than males (43%). It is concluded that Anaplasma marginalis infection is present, being significantly more frequent in Zebu cattle and in females.
