Keywords:

Cuba is engaged in seeking solutions to its main economic problems, without forgetting the principles of equity and social justice, which means ensuring economic growth, coupled with improving the quality of life of society in all its localities in the most profound wide sense; therefore, this work focuses its efforts on mountainous areas, where there are less favoured social layers due to their locations and characteristics. This research seeks the application of new procedures for the development of new economic methods of biodiversity, so that the criteria of maximization of economic and social benefit do not prevail over decision-making processes in society. For this, the importance of the value of biodiversity, the main causes of its deterioration, the environmental economics approach, the ecological economics approach and the sustainable development model are analyzed
