Abstract

El Palenque community belonging to the Yacabo Arriba popular council of the Imías municipality benefits from the Renewable Energy Sources project as support for Local Development, which, because of the complex situation to connect to the National Electroenergy System, is at a disadvantage in reaching higher levels of life quality. This work presents the methodology used to define the best technical variant for the assembly of photovoltaic solar panels in the community as well as the main results achieved from the assembly of these panels. This technology is beneficial because the energy that powered the community came from the fossil fuel used by the generating set to energize it for only 4 hours a day and, in addition, the food cooking was done with firewood, which affected deforestation and thus the direct impact that this causes on the ecosystem of which it is a part.
