Abstract

Tourism constitutes one of fundamental economic activities and the engine of local development in several regions of Latin America and Cuba. Its high dynamism requires a constant search for variants that enable the link with local communities as the maximum exponent of potential, especially in terms of culture, nature, traditions, history and the logistical support necessary for its development. Currently, the economic, social and environmental integration of the tourism industry is required to generate alternative sources for the collection of permanent jobs in the receiving localities and to promote the participation of communities in exchange and knowledge, enhancing local pride, and sense of belonging.  In this sense, elements are analyzed to achieve an integrated tourism development model based on the articulation of the different actors that made up the host communities.
