Abstract

The research was carried out in the province of Guantánamo, with personnel related to the consumption of wooden articles, contacted sawmills, carpentry shops, which represented a universe of 500 individuals, with the objective of determining the preferred species in the manufacture of furniture, which was applied the survey method of the questionnaire technique. Swietenia mahagoni L, Cedrela odorata L, Hibiscus elatus L and Cordia gerascanthus L were the timber species that had a strong influence and preferences by the consumer, where Swietenia mahagoni is the most accepted species for the production of wooden articles.
