Keywords:
Diversity; Reserve; Forest; SpeciesAbstract
This study was carried out in a microphyllous evergreen forest of the Hatibonico Ecological Reserve, belonging to Caimanera, Guantánamo, with the aim of characterizing the floristic diversity of the area. A total of 25 plots were randomly raised, floristic species present in the different defined strata were counted and the height and diameter of species larger than one meter were measured. Alpha and beta diversity was determined, analyzing the structure and composition of the species. A total of 440 species belonging to 50 genera, families belonging to 20 families and 29 genera, were obtained. The most important species from the economic and ecological point of view are the most abundant and the most frequent. The families with the greatest richness of individuals were: Esterculiaceae with 76 individuals, followed by Meliaceae with 69 and with little presence of individuals Mirtácea, Melasaceae, Rutácea, Canelácea, Cesalpinácea with one individual.
