Estimate of the carbon and nitrogen retained in the lumberman biomass of dychrostachys cinerea var. Africana brenan & brummitt
Keywords:
biomass per hectare, retained carbon and nitrogen, effective areaAbstract
Into an area covered with Dychrostachys cinerea var. African Brenan & Brummitt from Camagüey, Cuba; 90 parcels of 25 m2 were settled down. The diameters were measured in the base of all bushes and the half diameter was calculated for each of the three diameters categories established, as well as its corresponding air green lumberman biomass for hectare, by means of the defined mathematical models. The reached values multiplied for their corresponding effective area, being obtained the lumberman air green total biomass; converted to dry weight starting from the coefficients previously determined in the laboratory. The obtained values multiplied for the coefficients of retention of carbon and nitrogen, reported for the species, being obtained finally, as total level of carbon and nitrogen retained in the air dry lumberman biomass of marabou, values of 247 636,53 and 2 267,19 tons, respectively and half for hectare of 21,77 and 0,2 tons.
